AG Barr ‘futureproofs’ fleet with nine Mercedes Actros

AG Barr has added nine new Mercedes-Benz Actros tractors to its 47-strong fleet, describing the vehicles’ build quality and safety features as a “phenomenal all-round package”.

With low-emission zones on the horizon for Scotland we were keen to futureproof the business by moving to Euro VI engines, and to de-risk our maintenance cost exposure by purchasing new, rather than pre-owned vehicles
Gary Campbell, Transport Manager

Supplied by dealer Western Commercial, the new additions are all Actros 2543 models with ClassicSpace cabs and 10.7-litre straight-six engines producing 422bhp.

Each is specified with the manufacturer’s Safety Pack: this includes Active Brake Assist 4, with its pedestrian recognition technology, as well as Proximity Control Assist and a driver’s airbag. The Actros are also equipped with the optional Predictive Powertrain Control system.

Eight of the trucks are in service at the operator’s Cumbernauld headquarters, home to its Irn-Bru brand, with the other at its Forfar facility.
